ContractWorks pricing at a glance
The plan structure below comes from the ContractWorks pricing page. The prices come from TrustRadius, CostBench and HyperStart, because ContractWorks does not print them in the page text. Treat the dollar figures as a starting point for a sales call, not a quote.
| ContractWorks plan | Reported price, billed yearly | Stored documents | E-signature licenses | Users |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Standard | about $700 a month, about $8,400 a year | 2,500 | 5 | Unlimited |
| Professional | about $900 a month, about $10,800 a year | 10,000 | 10 | Unlimited |
| Premium | about $2,000 a month, or by quote | Unlimited | 20 | Unlimited |
Older listings from 2021, still copied around the web, show $600, $800 and $1,000 a month for the same three tiers. Those numbers predate the move to Onit and the added drafting and workflow features, so do not budget on them.
Every plan is sold on an annual term. ContractWorks sends the order form for e-signature and prefers payment by credit card, with ACH or wire available on invoice.
What every ContractWorks plan includes
ContractWorks lists the same core feature set under all three plans and changes only the document cap and the number of signing licenses. That includes AI smart tagging of parties, dates and renewal terms, OCR and full-text search, date alerts, custom reports, role-based permissions, an audit log report, SAML single sign-on, a Salesforce integration and upload by email. The repository is SOC 2 Type 2 compliant.
One detail deserves a direct question in the demo. The ContractWorks homepage labels contract drafting, approval workflows, the clause library and redlining as Premium features, while the pricing table shows them under every plan. Ask which plan you need for templates and approvals before you compare quotes.
What ContractWorks really costs in the first year
The monthly figure is the smallest part of the decision. A ContractWorks subscription is prepaid for a year, and three things move the total.
- Signing licenses. A license is a person who sends documents for signature. Recipients sign for free. Standard covers 5 senders. If 8 people in sales, HR and procurement send contracts, you either buy a $1,200 pack of five more licenses or move to Professional.
- Document volume. Standard stops at 2,500 stored documents, and amendments, renewal letters and signed copies all count. A company with 1,800 contracts today and steady growth will hit the Professional tier within a year or two.
- Tagging help. ContractWorks offers a managed Contract Tagging Service, run by legal engineers and attorneys, to load and tag your archive for you. It is not priced on the website. If you have 2,000 legacy PDFs, get that number in writing before you sign.
A realistic year-one budget for a 6-person contracts team with 3,000 documents is Professional at about $10,800, plus tagging help if you want the archive loaded for you. ContractWorks does give a nonprofit discount on request, which is worth asking for if it applies.
ContractWorks free trial and what happens after it
ContractWorks offers a 14-day free trial with guided setup and no credit card. When the trial ends it converts to the Standard plan, and the contracts, tags, alerts and users you set up carry over. That is convenient, and it also means the trial is the moment to test the hard cases. Upload one auto-renewing vendor agreement with a 60 or 90 day notice clause and check whether the alert is set from the notice deadline or only from the end date. The notice date is the one that saves money.
If you cancel, ContractWorks says you can bulk download your documents at any time and that records are deleted within 30 days of a confirmed exit.
A cheaper ContractWorks alternative with published pricing
ContractWorks is priced for companies where many people need to look up contracts. When the people who actually manage contracts are a small group, a per-seat plan is usually far cheaper. Here are the same needs priced on AgreementSoftware, whose full price list is on the contract management software pricing page.
| Your situation | ContractWorks | AgreementSoftware |
|---|---|---|
| 3 people, under 500 contracts, renewal reminders and some signing | Standard, about $8,400 a year | Starter, $288 a year or $49 a month, 25 e-signature envelopes a month |
| 8 people sending contracts, under 2,500 contracts, approvals | Standard plus one extra license pack, about $9,600 a year | Plus, $888 a year or $149 a month, 10 seats, 150 envelopes a month |
| 30 people, 6,000 contracts, Salesforce and API | Professional, about $10,800 a year | Pro, $2,988 a year or $499 a month, 40 seats, unlimited contracts |
| 150 people who need read access across the company | Professional, about $10,800 a year, unlimited users | Enterprise, $5,988 a year for 100 seats plus 50 extra seats at $15 a month, about $14,988 a year |
The last row is where ContractWorks wins, and it is a real advantage. If more than about 100 people across the company need regular access, unlimited-user pricing ends up cheaper than any per-seat plan, ours included.
AgreementSoftware is built for the operations, finance or legal lead who owns contracts without a legal ops team. You upload signed PDFs and Word files, AI extraction reads the parties, term, renewal type and notice period and shows the sentence each value came from, and the owner is reminded 90, 60, 30 and 7 days before the notice deadline. Contracts are sent for signature with our built-in electronic signature software, and the signed copy files itself on the contract record. Vendor agreements often also require the vendor to keep insurance in force, and if that is a big part of your workload, dedicated certificate of insurance tracking software handles the certificates while the contract record holds the clause that requires them. The demo at the top of this page reads a real contract in about a minute.
ContractWorks vs ContractSafe on price
Buyers who look at ContractWorks usually shortlist ContractSafe too, since both sell unlimited users. ContractSafe prices by active contracts in seven volume bands, starting near $450 a month for its Organize plan at 100 or fewer contracts, while ContractWorks prices by stored documents and signing licenses. Our ContractSafe pricing breakdown has the full band table.
| ContractWorks | ContractSafe | |
|---|---|---|
| Entry price | about $700 a month (Standard, reported) | about $450 a month (Organize, 100 or fewer contracts) |
| Pricing basis | Stored documents and e-signature licenses | Active contracts, seven bands |
| Users | Unlimited | Unlimited |
| E-signature | Built in, 5 to 20 sender licenses | Finalize and Maximize plans, through DocuSign |
| Prices printed on the vendor site | No | After you choose a volume band |
| Owner | Onit, which bought parent company SecureDocs in 2022 | Independent |
If neither unlimited-user model fits, our guide to the best contract management software compares published-price options side by side.
How to decide if ContractWorks is worth the price
ContractWorks is a sound choice for a company that wants one secure repository the whole staff can search, with signing built in and a vendor that will load the archive. It is expensive for a small team whose real problem is that renewals slip past unnoticed.
- Count the people who will send contracts for signature, not everyone who will read them. That number sets your ContractWorks license cost.
- Count your stored documents including amendments, then add a year of growth. That sets the tier.
- Ask for the price of the plan you will need in year two, and whether the renewal price is capped.
- Ask how a full export of documents and tag data works if you leave.
If the answer to the first question is under 10 people and you store fewer than 2,500 contracts, compare the quote against a published plan before you prepay a year. The contract repository software page shows what the storage and search side of our product does.
How much does ContractWorks cost?
ContractWorks costs about $700 a month for the Standard plan, about $900 for Professional and about $2,000 or a custom quote for Premium, billed yearly, according to TrustRadius, CostBench and other 2026 sources. ContractWorks lists the plan limits on its pricing page but not the prices. Every plan includes unlimited users.
Is ContractWorks priced per user?
No. ContractWorks includes unlimited users on every plan. The price is set by how many documents you store (2,500, 10,000 or unlimited) and how many people need to send documents for e-signature (5, 10 or 20 licenses). Recipients sign for free, and extra sender licenses cost $1,200 a year per pack of five.
Does ContractWorks have a free trial?
Yes. ContractWorks offers a 14-day free trial with guided setup and no credit card required. At the end of the trial the account converts to the Standard plan and keeps the contracts, tags, alerts and users you created, so test your hardest contracts, such as an auto-renewal with a notice period, before the trial ends.
Who owns ContractWorks?
ContractWorks is an Onit product. Onit, which sells enterprise legal operations software, acquired SecureDocs, the parent company of ContractWorks, in January 2022. Since then ContractWorks has added template drafting, a clause library, version tracking and approval workflows to the original secure repository.
What is a cheaper alternative to ContractWorks?
For teams of under 10 people that store fewer than 2,500 contracts, published per-seat plans are usually cheaper. AgreementSoftware Starter costs $49 a month or $288 a year for 3 seats, 500 contracts, AI extraction and renewal alerts, and Plus costs $149 a month or $888 a year for 10 seats with approvals and obligation tracking.
