Contract management software for small business, without the spreadsheet
A small business signs more contracts than it thinks: the office lease, the payroll provider, a dozen software subscriptions, customer agreements, contractor agreements and a stack of NDAs. Usually one person keeps track of them in a spreadsheet, and the spreadsheet is only as current as the last time that person had a quiet afternoon. Agreementsoftware is contract management software for small business that does the tracking for you, starting at $49 per month, or $24 per month billed yearly, with no implementation project.
Why the contract spreadsheet stops working
The spreadsheet is a good idea that depends on a person. Someone has to open every new contract, find the dates, type them in, and then remember to look at the sheet. It fails in predictable ways.
- New contracts never get added, because they were signed in a rush on a Friday.
- The column says "end date" but the date that matters is the notice deadline, which nobody calculated.
- The sheet does not send reminders, so it only helps if someone opens it at the right moment.
- The actual contract lives somewhere else, so checking a term means a search through email.
- When the person who kept it leaves, the knowledge leaves with them.
What Starter replaces it with
The Starter plan, built for exactly this
Starter is the plan for a small team moving off the spreadsheet. It includes 3 seats, room for 500 stored contracts, AI extraction for 50 documents per month, renewal alerts for every contract, 10 templates, 25 e-signature envelopes per month and CSV export of the whole register.
- Upload your contracts as PDF or DOCX. Each becomes a record with a counterparty, an owner, a folder and tags.
- AI extraction fills in the parties, effective date, term, auto-renewal, notice period, termination, payment terms, liability cap and governing law, with the source sentence next to every field.
- The notice deadline is computed from the term and the notice period, and the owner gets an email 90, 60, 30 and 7 days before it.
- Full-text search finds any clause in any contract.
- The dashboard shows what renews next, what expires this quarter and what each owner is responsible for.
- Your own templates generate first drafts from a short form, and e-signature sends them out and files the signed copy back automatically.
What one missed renewal costs a small business
Take a small business paying $12,000 per year for a software platform it has outgrown. The contract renews automatically with 30 days notice. Without an alert, the renewal goes through and the company pays another $12,000. Starter billed yearly costs $288. In this illustration, stopping one unwanted renewal pays for more than 40 years of the plan. You do not need to find many forgotten renewals for the numbers to work; one is usually enough.
From spreadsheet to register in an afternoon
- Create your account and invite up to two colleagues.
- Create a few folders: Vendors, Customers, People, Property.
- Upload the contracts that cost money first: software, lease, services, insurance.
- Check the extracted fields against your old spreadsheet instead of retyping anything, and fix what differs.
- Set an owner on each contract, so alerts go to the person who can act.
- Keep the spreadsheet for a month if it makes you comfortable, then archive it.
Contracts beyond your 50 monthly extractions still go into the repository and stay searchable. The full walkthrough is on our clm system page, and the repository itself is described on our contract repository software page.
Growing out of Starter
When a small business needs Plus
Most companies stay on Starter until one of three things happens: more than 3 people need access, the archive passes 500 contracts, or you want rules for who approves what. Extra seats cost $15 per seat per month on any plan, so a fourth person does not force a move. Plus at $149 per month ($74 billed yearly) adds 10 seats, 2 500 contracts, 300 extractions per month, approval workflows, obligation tracking, unlimited templates with a clause library, roles and permissions per folder and an audit log. Compare the plans on our contract management system cost page, or see every feature on our contract management platform page.
Signing without a separate tool
Many small businesses pay for an e-signature tool only to send a few agreements a month. Starter includes 25 envelopes per month with signing order, reminders and an audit certificate, and the signed copy files itself. Electronic signatures are valid for most business contracts in the US under the ESIGN Act and UETA; certain documents such as wills and some court and family law documents are excluded. Our electronic signature software page has the details.
How can a small business try it before paying?
No, there is no free plan. The contract snapshot demo on the homepage is free and shows extraction and deadlines on a real agreement. Starter costs $49 per month or $24 per month billed yearly.
Do we need a lawyer to set it up?
No. Starter is built for an operations or finance person to set up alone. You upload contracts, check the extracted fields and set owners.
Can we add a fourth person without upgrading?
Yes. Extra seats cost $15 per seat per month on Starter, Plus and Pro, on the same billing period as the plan.
What happens to our contracts if we cancel?
Your contracts stay yours. Export everything, any time: the register as CSV and every original file.
