Agreement management software and agreement management system with renewal alerts
Agreement management software is one system that holds every agreement your company signs, from the first draft to the renewal: templates, approvals, e-signature, a searchable archive, the key terms and dates on each record, and alerts to a named owner before a deadline passes. AgreementSoftware is that system for US companies of 20 to 500 people without a legal operations team. AI reads the parties, term, renewal clause and notice period from each signed PDF, so the register fills itself. Plans start at $49 a month, every price is published and a typical archive is loaded in a day.

Agreements a company has to manage
A contract and an agreement are the same thing to the software, and to the person who gets the surprise invoice. What differs is who owns each type and which date hurts when it is missed. A mid-size company usually has six families of agreements spread across five departments, and no single list of them.
| Agreement type | Usual owner | Date or term that causes trouble | What the system does |
|---|---|---|---|
| Customer agreements and order forms | Sales, account management | Renewal date, price increase clause, payment terms | Template, discount approval, e-signature, renewal alert |
| Vendor and SaaS agreements | Finance, IT, procurement | Notice deadline before auto-renewal, renewal uplift | AI reads term and notice period, alerts at 90, 60, 30 and 7 days |
| Master service agreements and statements of work | Operations, delivery | SOW end date, MSA expiry while SOWs are open | One counterparty record, tags per SOW, alerts per document |
| Non-disclosure agreements | Sales, partnerships, legal | Confidentiality survival period | Template, e-signature, obligation reminder |
| Employment, contractor and consulting agreements | HR, people operations | Fixed-term end, non-compete and probation dates | Restricted folder, owner, reminder on each date |
| Leases and equipment agreements | Operations, facilities | Renewal option window, rent steps | Obligation dates with custom reminders |
| Partner, reseller and referral agreements | Partnerships | Exclusivity end, minimum commitments, rebate dates | Obligation tracking and clause search |
If you can name the owner and the next date for every row in your own company, you may not need software yet. Most teams cannot do it for half of them.
How it works
How an agreement management system works day to day
The system has two entrances. Agreements you already signed come in as files. New agreements start inside the tool.
- Upload the signed PDFs and DOCX files you have, one at a time or in bulk. Scanned documents are read too.
- AI extracts the counterparty, effective date, term, auto-renewal, notice period, payment terms and governing law, and shows each value next to the sentence it came from so a person can confirm it.
- Every agreement gets an owner. Alerts go to that person, and to a backup, before the notice deadline and before the end date.
- New agreements start from your template. A changed clause or a value above your threshold is routed for approval on Plus.
- The approved version goes out for e-signature. The signed PDF and its audit trail are filed on the same record automatically.
- Search runs across the full text of every agreement, so "which customers have a most favored pricing clause" takes seconds.
The filing side is covered in depth on our contract repository software page, and the dates on our contract tracking software page.
Lifecycle
Agreement lifecycle management from request to renewal
Agreement lifecycle management means the same record follows the document through six stages, so nothing has to be re-entered and nothing is lost between tools.
| Stage | What happens | In AgreementSoftware |
|---|---|---|
| Request and draft | Someone needs an agreement and picks the right paper | Templates with a clause library, 10 templates on Starter, unlimited on Plus |
| Review and negotiation | Both sides send versions | Every version stored, comparison of any two, comments |
| Approval | Finance, legal or a manager signs off | Rules by agreement type and value on Plus, multi-step and conditional on Pro |
| Signature | The parties sign | Built-in e-signature, 25 envelopes a month on Starter, 150 on Plus |
| Obligations | Deliverables, reports, payments, option windows | Obligation tracking with custom reminders on Plus |
| Renewal or exit | Renew, renegotiate or give notice | Alerts 90, 60, 30 and 7 days before the notice deadline |
Enterprise platforms split these stages into separate modules priced separately. Here they are one product, and the plan you pick decides volume and routing depth. The stage most companies get wrong is the last one, which is why our contract renewal management software page exists.
Worked example
One agreement followed through the system
A 120 person software company signs a three year reseller agreement on March 1, 2026. It renews automatically for one year terms unless either side gives 90 days written notice, includes a $60,000 yearly minimum commitment and gives the reseller exclusivity in two states for the first 18 months.
- Day one: the signed PDF is uploaded. AI reads the three year term, the auto-renewal and the 90 day notice period, and sets the end date to February 28, 2029.
- The system computes the notice deadline as November 30, 2028 and schedules the first alert for September 1, 2028.
- The partnerships lead adds two obligations: exclusivity ends September 1, 2027, and the minimum commitment is reviewed every March 1.
- In August 2027 the owner gets a reminder that exclusivity is about to end and opens talks with a second reseller on time.
- In September 2028 the alert arrives with three months to decide whether to renew, renegotiate the minimum or send notice.
Without the system, the first three dates live in the memory of whoever negotiated the deal. People change jobs every few years. The agreement runs longer than that.
Who it is for
Who buys agreement management software
- Operations and finance leads who own vendor agreements and were recently caught by an auto-renewal.
- Solo in-house counsel or a two-person legal team that needs one register for every department's paper.
- Sales operations managers who want customer agreements, discounts and renewals on one record. Our agreement tracking software for sales page covers that workflow.
- Office managers and HR leads who hold employment, contractor and lease agreements in restricted folders.
- Founders and COOs preparing for an audit, financing or sale, when a buyer asks for every agreement with its change of control clause.
Some agreements, such as real estate documents, affidavits and certain powers of attorney, must also be notarized before they are valid. The repository stores the notarized copy, and the notarization itself can be done through remote online notarization without anyone visiting an office.
Agreement management software compared honestly
Four kinds of tools get used to manage agreements. Each fits a different company.
| Option | Typical cost | Good at | Where it falls short |
|---|---|---|---|
| Shared drive plus a spreadsheet | No software cost | Storing files, fine below about 50 agreements | Nobody updates the sheet, no alerts, no approvals, dates typed by hand |
| E-signature tool on its own | $11 to $45 per user a month on published plans | Getting a document signed quickly | Signed files sit in an envelope list, no term extraction, weak renewal tracking |
| Enterprise agreement platforms (Docusign IAM and CLM, Ironclad, Icertis) | IAM from $45 per user a month for small teams, CLM by quote, often $20,000 to $100,000 or more a year | Deep CRM and ERP workflows, AI across very large archives, complex approvals | Months of setup, a rollout project, priced for legal departments |
| AgreementSoftware | $49 to $998 a month, published | Repository, AI extraction, approvals, e-signature, obligations and renewal alerts in one tool, live in a day | No in-browser co-editing with the counterparty, no CPQ, lighter CRM integration than enterprise suites |
If thousands of agreements a month flow through Salesforce with quote-to-cash rules, an enterprise platform is the right purchase. If the real problem is that nobody knows what was signed or when it renews, a focused system solves it this week for the price of one seat on a bigger one. Our best contract management software guide compares the categories in more detail.

What is agreement management software?
Agreement management software is a system that stores every agreement a company signs and manages the work around it: drafting from templates, approvals, e-signature, extraction of key terms and dates, search, and alerts before renewals and deadlines. It replaces a shared drive, a spreadsheet and a separate signing tool with one record per agreement.
What is an agreement management system?
An agreement management system is the same thing described as a place instead of a product: the single register where each agreement has a file, an owner, its key terms, its dates and its history. A good system fills those fields by reading the document, so nobody types them, and it alerts the owner on its own.
What is the difference between agreement management and contract management?
There is no practical difference. An agreement and a contract are handled the same way by the software, and vendors use the two terms for the same category. "Agreement" is the broader word and often covers NDAs, order forms, consents and policies that people do not think of as contracts.
What is agreement lifecycle management?
Agreement lifecycle management is the practice of running an agreement through every stage on one record: request, drafting, negotiation, approval, signature, obligations and renewal. The point is continuity. The terms approved before signature are the same terms the renewal alert is computed from two years later.
What is the best agreement management software for a small legal team?
For a lean legal team managing a few hundred to a few thousand agreements, the best fit is a tool with AI extraction, approvals, e-signature and renewal alerts at a published price that works without an implementation project. AgreementSoftware Plus covers 10 seats and 2,500 agreements for $149 a month.
How much does agreement management software cost?
Published plans for small and mid-size companies run from about $49 to $1,000 a month. AgreementSoftware costs $49, $149, $499 or $998 a month, about half when billed yearly. Enterprise agreement platforms are sold by quote and commonly cost $20,000 to $100,000 or more a year once implementation is added.
